I never rocked the holistic hooping or the crystal therapy, but, man, what a weekend:
Big air (and no major slams) on the MegaRamp. Pierre Luc Gagnon nailing a few 720s and winning the $10k skate duel with X-Games gold medalist Bob Burnquist.
K'naan sitting down for an interview on the bus, pointing out once and for all what we've always known about Grace Pavilion: "The sound last night (@Techno-Tribal) was horrible."
Lead singer Paul "HR" Hudson staring at his shoes while the rest of Bad Brains rocks the pit. Positive. Mental. Attitude.
Wu-Tang lifer Killah Priest battling Joan Baez for surprise guest of the weekend.
Michael Franti (below watching skate finals) sharing his creative process - squeezing out the biggest hit of his career in Woody Harrelson's bathroom.

HR looking for change in his pockets.
Cake singer Jon McCrea leading the sing-along Friday night, eventually asking the crowd: "Can you live without your marijuana?"
Matisyahu rocking the yarmulke with Killah Priest.

HR staring at the sky.
Closing it out Sunday evening, India.Arie summed it up this way: "I'm not here for you and you're not here for me. We're here for each other."
HR, why don't you ever say things like that?

Comment: My husband and I definitely enjoyed ourselved, but it was a little odd having NOS passed out to everyone free. Seems like a strange product to give to youths at such an event. Also, my husband and I had a blast at the Sat after-dark party. The DJ's were great except for the rapping piece and the fighting dances SUCKED - we could not understand why they would have any sort of fighting at something like that. It definitely cleared the room for a bit and brought everyone down. We had to leave during that. Glad it picked back up soon after. Also, I agree it should be AT LEAST 18 or over w/ID. Watching the kids there really brought me down several times during the night. I saw what looked liked 14 year old girls making out with what looked like men, other girls looking MAYBE 17 naked in the bubble and others very scantily clothed. Most of them were pushing their way through others with no regard for being polite. There were several other children there that looked no more than 12 years old. It is definitely not an environment for kids, and I think it ruins some of the fun for adults to have to share it with them. I was there with teachers and many times during the night we were caring more about the kids then enjoying ourselves. The whole point of us going was to see the Orb so I was disappointed that they canceled and nothing was said about it. Despite that, I had fun and the visuals were great.

Comment: I don't know about the techno deal but I've just gotta say I've never seen so many hippie wannabees in one place in my life. Unreal. It was like a great big Halloween party, in full costume. Being a real hippie, from the 60s and early 70s, I can say with all certainty that what I observed was nothing other than a freak show. I did enjoy the contact high, however...

Comment: Sat Nite Dance: ROOKIE NIGHT...
Please - no more all ages "NightClubs" anymore... I will never return otherwise.. The behaviour of the young people was ATROCIOUS... Pushing through the super-crowded room, with NO CARE for anyone... This is NOT ACCEPTABLE.
2) Wear your Shirt.. It is a public place...
3) HARMONY FESTIVAL: Learn to cut people off. Some of the DRUNKEST PEOPLE I have ever seen were at this Late night party. Most were not even 25 years old. Many were very young. I dare say Underage.
Children should not be there, nor expected to behave. THEY HAVE NO BUSINESS IN A PLACE LIKE THAT...
Maybe 18 and up.. EVEN THAT would deter me from ever going again to the Late night dance....
An awful night: Seemingly "Entitled" Youth acting abominably...NO RESPECT FOR ANYONE...
oh yeah, the FIGHTING DANCES with Video Game music were COMPLETELY IRRESPONSIBLE TO HAVE AT THIS 'mellow' 'peace-loving' gathering.
Just a terrible event, all told.
